University of Oregon junior Galen Rupp and two-time Olympian Jen Rhines were victorious in the men's and women's 10,000 meters Sunday night at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.

A six-time All-American, Rupp won the men's 10,000 meters in a new University of Oregon record time of 27 minutes 33.48 seconds. Rupp's performance moved him to seventh all-time in U.S history. He is now tops all-time among American-born collegians and third overall in NCAA history behind the Kenyan pair of Henry Rono (27:22.47, 1978) and Samson Kimombwa (27:30.47, 1977) from Washington State. Rupps's time earned him the 'A' qualifying standard for the 2007 World Outdoor Championships and the 2008 Olympic Games, and ranks as the fifth-fastest time in the world this year.

In the women's 10,000m race, Jen Rhines moved to #3 on the all-time U.S. list with her winning time of 31 minutes17.31 seconds. In slicing seven seconds off her personal best time, Rhines has met the 'A' qualifying standards for this year's World Outdoor Championships and the 2008 Olympic Games. Her performance ranks as the fastest women's 10,000m time in the world this year.
