Record Field Expected at 22nd Big Sur International Marathon .... Nyakundi to defend men's title

CARMEL, Calif. - (April 25, 2007) - The twenty-second presentation of the Big Sur International Marathon will host a record number of entrants in the various race events that take place on Sunday, April 29. Over 12,000 runners will participate in the marathon, relay, 21 mile walk, 10.6 miles walk, the 5K and the School 5K Competition.

"We are proud not only of our world acclaimed marathon, but also of our award winning Youth Fitness Program "Just Run" where 4,200 children have logged over 104,000 miles this school year," commented Wally Kastner, Race Director. "Over 2,200 kids will take part in our 5K goal race next Sunday. We expect the program to double in size in 2008. I would like to thank everyone who has helped accomplish this remarkable achievement."
